Mission Statement: Modern Music Sound Service is dedicated to providing top quality sound and lighting services for your wedding, reception, special event. Our goal is to make it a memorable experience for all.

 

Modern Music Sound Service was founded in 1981 by Hal Wagenet. The recording studio was the first one in Mendocino County. Over the next decade, he produced and played on about 30 albums, and countless demos.

During that time, demand grew steadily for garden weddings and Modern Music became known as the premier PA company in three counties.

 

We have had the honor to provide PA services to diverse clients such as: Eric Burdon, Charlie Musselwhite, The SubDudes, Johnny Winters, Guitar Shortie, Pablo Cruise, Taj Mahal, Chitresh Das, Jose Feliciano, Ali Akbar Khan, David Grisman, The Righteous Brothers, etc.

 

The YMCA official theme song was recorded in our studio as well as the first demos of the group now known as Green Day.

 

We have used our expertise to build two major performance facilities for the City of Willits: The Recreation Grove Stage and the Willits Frontier Days Announcer’s Booth.

 

Modern Music has provided multi-year PA services on a contractural basis to: Hopland Brewery weekly Blues shows,Ukiah School sound and lights for auditorium and international touring groups (classical musicians, Community Concerts, Chinese acrobats, Nutcracker Ballet, US Navy Brass Band, Etc.City of Lakeport Summer Concert Series (4 years x 11 shows/year) Willits Country Pickers variety shows (10 years x 10 shows/year) Willits Frontier Days Our 31st year of service with the oldest rodeo in California.
